Graham Waterhouse (Un Tombeau pour Dame Obsolete) Composer and Cellist Graham Waterhouse was born in London in 1962 into a musical family and has lived in Munich since 1992. He received his musical education at Highgate School London, Cambridge University and at music colleges in Essen and Cologne. Among his cello teachers were Maria Kliegel and Young-Chang Cho. His composition teachers have included Hugh Wood, Alexander Goehr and Nikolaus A. Huber. He has also particularly benifitted from the guidance of Sergiu Celibidache and Siegfried Palm. He has performed with the Philharmonia Orchestra London, Ensemble Modern, Frankfurt. He is a member of "Presence" piano trio, which in 2000 was awarded a "Stipendium der Landeshauptstadt MŸnchen". His work list comprises chamber music and two concertos, among them commissions for the "Orchestre de Chambre de Lausanne", the "Orquesta Sinfonica del Estado de Mexico", the "MŸnchener Biennale", the "International Double Reed Society" as well as for a number of eminent ensembles and instrumentalists. He has performed his own Cello Concerto op. 27 at Baden-Baden, Weimar, Gorkij and Mexico-City. His compositions have appeared with the following publishers: Hofmeister, Zimmermann, Lienau, Accolade and Heinrichshofen's. Several of his works have been broadcast by radio stations such as the BBC, Swiss Radio, SaarlŠndischer Rundfunk, Bayerischer Rundfunk. In 2001 his first CD was released in the "composer portrait" series of the Cybele label. | |
